With a steady hand, the thin paint brush grasped between Jobin’s fingers effortlessly glided through the small container of semi- hardened wax that sat on his desk. The office was silent, besides the occasional flutter of wings or tapping of glass. And behind him the smell of resin slowly suffocated the room, but he paid no mind to the horrid smell.As if he had been painting a picture, his free hand and fingers wrapped firmly around the squirming bug that was removed from her enclosure. Once again, Jobin brought the thin brush from the wax towards the underside of the beetle in his hand. He seemed in trance his eyes didn’t blink as he covered the underside of the beetle in wax, and once again smeared some of the wax over the top of its head. Jobin then grabbed his lighter from the cup on his table, leaving it to the side.The breath caught up in his throat as he coated and smoothed the wax over the beetle felt like a high. He placed the beetle in a smaller clear container, seeing as it nearly took up the base with its massive horn and legs. The beetle seemed to rub its face and wings, spreading the wax further over itself, and Jobin just seemed to stare blankly.If anyone had seen him right now, they most-likely would leave with no questions. But he didn’t care, watching as the beetle coated itself in wax, only making his breath hitch. But after he watched the beetle a bit more, he grabbed a metal chopstick from the cup, the clang of it being dropped down to the table startled the bug, but with no second thought he felt his stand manifest beside him. The suffocating smell of vinegar flooded the room from the resin, only now the smell of rotting or burning flesh hit his nose. The stand reached out and touched the tip of the metal chopstick and slowly it started to heat up, flashing a bright orange color before fading back to dull gray. Jobin smiled. The faint sounds of rasped breathing came from beside him, to which he moved out the way, for Speed King to watch.“You’re excited too, huh?” he asked the stand, who had no reply at first, only its head seemed to crane upwards, now staring at its user.Jobin looked over the stand and then to the empty sockets where the eyes would usually be on someone, the bruising and burns around its mouth and eye sockets looked painful, and dried blood and other liquid that had stained his cheeks, as if the stand was crying or sweating. Jobin knew his stand inside and out, it was a part of him after all. Jobin sighed now, placing his hands to his lap he seemed to forget about the beetle coated in wax.From Speed King’s lips, or what was left of them that didn’t seem to be rotting or still stitched on, the faint rasps and pained frantic cries flooded Jobin’s ears. With each breath the stand took, which matched his own, the stand's chest seemed to rise and fall. The teeth and some of the gums that stayed intact or melted onto the metal core of Speed King seemed to have some drool flooding down to Jobins sleeve, past the lack of lips. It was as if someone was being burned alive, right in front of him. To which he looked at the figure with some form of fondness or if you squinted, pride.The smell of rotting flesh and vinegar soon brought him back to reality as he then returned to the desk, the heat from the stand seemed to melt the wax in the small container at the end of his desk more to almost a soup. But now he had picked up the chopstick, and in one swift motion as if he had done this many times before, he pierced the crown of the beetle, and then once again through the back after lifting the wings.“That’s it..” His voice sounded almost breathless, but with the blinding stench of rotting flesh and acidic chemicals this seemed like a horror show or a freaky murder scene clean up.
